Director Melissa Lusher's vision for the production included multiple modern aesthetics and a new approach to the look of the Leibeslieders. Traditionally serving a similar function as a greek chorus, commenting on but not involved in the action of the plot, Melissa envisioned them as "The Gods" watching their mortal counterparts living the lives they orchestrated. Each Leibeslieder was linked to two main characters. For example, Mrs. Nordstrom's link to Anne was shown with a fluffy netting skirt akin to Anne's cottagecore aesthetic.
