The costume design concept for this adaptation of School for Scandal included a drastic visual separation of the "scandals" from the rest of the characters. Both to assist the audience in tracking each of the many characters, and to play on the idea of first impressions, each principle character was given their own color palette.  The "scandals" wore exaggerated makeup and were clad in bright colors, sometimes even offensive to the eye, to highlight their desire to be looked upon and their extreme self confidence. The more grounded characters were given more appealing natural makeup, and clothed earth tones including shades of tan, brown, and russet, and blue.  The most back-stabbing characters were clad in color-changing silk taffeta and silk dupioni to enhance their deceptive natures.
